A515-51G-55K5 - "Reboot and select proper Boot Device" - no boot possible

Hello,

my Aspire laptop can no longer boot and can no longer find the SDD in the BIOS.

Model: Acer Aspire A515-51G-55K5

BIOS V.1.15

The laptop can no longer start. "Reboot and select proper Boot Device" comes as an error message. In the BIOS, no SSD is displayed next to the HDD (as a pure data hard drive).

Here's what I've already tried:

- Removal and reinstallation of the old M.2 SSD. No improvement

- Formatting the SSD (Windows hard drive) and reinstalling Windows via Windows Creation Tool via USB stick. Since then, the SDD is also displayed again.

- Update BIOS I wanted to do next, but I only get .exe files via the driver page (https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/BIOS/BIOS/BIOS_Acer_2.02_A_A.zip?)

Does anyone know the problem and can help me?

I had the same problem with acer nitro 5 515-58 and I went to a friend we did it for 2 hours you need to change settings in the boot menu but sometimes it needs drivers.

Try to boot with your recovery drive; turn off laptop, insert the usb rec. drive, press F2, move "Boot with usb drive" to the top in the boot page BIOS, exit with saving new settings and reboot with Windows PE (Recovery Panel; choose "System Recovery"). If BIOS does not detect the USB your Boot Partition is corrupted, take out your SSD, connect it with a SSD/USB cable to another PC and back up your data, reformat the SSD (for security) and reinstall the empty SSD in your laptop for Acer Service or a trusted repair shop, ask to completly reinstal OEM OS/drivers.

What do you mean with "Change settings" in the boot menu?

Due to the .exe file of the new BIOS Version, i can't update it via usb, because the stick won't be shown with only an .exe file.

See the link to the german answer, there was given BIOS files, instead of an .exe.

I booted with the usb-stick and installed Windows complety new on the ssd. Neverthelesse, the BIOS doesn't show a bootable hard-drive, instead of the data-HDD. But on on the other hand it shows two HDD on information page

Maybe i reinstall windows on the SSD and try it again.

Just another info: The installation process, the access to the USB stick has taken aprox. 45 minutes. Way too long for such a operation.

Your problem is not the OS (Windows) it is the boot partition(s) on your SSD (volumes 1-3) that need to be recreated by a a technician (with Disk Management), I strongly recommend that you back up your data on another PC, reformat your SD and turn your laptop in at Acer Services to completely initialize and reformat your SSD, reinstall the drivers, apps and OEM OS (Windows 11) for a small charge ($25) or free if your laptop is still under warranty. That Windows OS you have/are downloading is not OEM (Acer) you should install OEM drivers and OS from Acer on your laptop as you won't have a MS product key for the OS and there may be booting/BIOS issues like you have when you install non-Acer drivers OS.

What I meant with the BIOS menu Boot page change is: Move the USB drive to the top of the boot list (with F5/F6), but since you can already boot from USB that is OK.

To create a USB recovery drive (to boot from) Windows PE (Recovery environment ISO) needs to be installed at a data transfer speed of 5mb/s for 8GB that will take 30 minutes at least, 45 min. is normal.

Hi Puraw,

Actually the boot progress via USB won't work after ~ 16 hours. No progress. I already replaced the old SSD with a new M.2 SATA SSD. In the BIOS all components are listed and are recognized. Maybe I can post a few photos afterwards.

Maybe the RAM or Motherboard have a malfunction?

I have installed Windows 11 via usb and windows creation tool on the new inserted SSD, but the bios doen't recognize any bootable function on the ssd...
