This is normal behavior. This is why the battery should be fully charged and plugged in BEFORE starting heavy game playing for maximum play time. At times both the battery and the charger must work together to meet the power demand. During those times the battery is discharging even though plugged in. Once the battery drops below about 50% charge level, battery charging takes precedent over gaming CPU GPU power demands. So you will start to see throttling behavior. Time to stop playing games and allow the battery to charge back up to 100% at which time you can begin the gaming cycle again till battery drops below 50%.

To increase playing time, many use a higher power charger so the battery doesn't drain as fast to below the 50% charge level when throttling begins.
