Acer Swift3 overheating when using the charger

I have used my ACER Swift 3 since 2018 (2027 built) without any problem till now. But now I cannot charge the computer while I am using it. It overheats to the point that  I cannot hold the computer on my lap.  The battery charger gets extremely hot and the heat spread to the computer from the connection to the charger ( upper left).  Now I can only use the computer on battery power.  The fan sounds like it is running fine. Do I need to change the battery, change the charger, or both?

    Hi @MarieCZM

You can try to do a reset to check if that makes any difference.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recovery-options-in-windows-31ce2444-7de3-818c-d626-e3b5a3024da5#WindowsVersion=Windows_11

Check the above link to do a reset.

NOTE: Make sure to backup all the data before the reset.

Hope it will help you in some way.

There may be some corrosion in the charging socket. The extra resistance caused by that would cause the heating. Without knowing what computer you have we can't tell you if the socket is soldered to the motherboard or on a cable... Your full model number should be on the same sticker as your SN and SNID.
