My router model is TP-Link AC750 Archer C20. My PC is an Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-54-72ZJ. Ever since I got this laptop, it refused to connect to the 5GHz Wi-Fi connection with the router. 2.4GHz works fine. Now, after uninstalling the default Wi-Fi driver, Windows installed one driver from January, 2021. Only with this driver am I able to connect to a 5GHz connection. Newer driver versions, even from June 2022, refuse to connect with it. Even the Acer provided driver doesn't work. Others using this router and PC had the same problem but it got resolved after they got themselves newer routers (with Wi-Fi 5 and/or 6). What can be the issue? My phones and old Predator from 2017 (G3-572) work nicely with it.

If it's channel auto changing, try manually changing the channel in the 5GHz band till you find one that works well. It might affect other devices.
I tried them all on Acer's driver but it didn't work. But this new driver directly from Intel works great now.

    >>>it got resolved after they got themselves newer routers>>>

This router design is nearly 10 yrs old. It's notorious for the 5GHz signal being significantly weaker than its 2.4GHz signal. Accordingly, it's less forgiving as to the laptop antenna orientation relative to the router's. You may be able improve it by fiddling with the orientation of the router antennas to improve its gain in the direction of your laptop.

But the newer (even stock) drivers just won't connect to 5GHz. That's the issue. No matter how close I am to the router, it doesn't work. Tried from within 1m as well. Only the older driver that predates Acer provided driver works. But that got the issue as this router has problems as mentioned by you.

Seems like the Intel's Killer Driver from July has fixed the issue. Will report back after another reboot.

Keep latest Killer drivers installed from Intel. Uninstall only the Killer app from Start screen. Then install this week's Intel Wi-Fi driver. Works fine for me as of today.
