Hey everyone. I'm using an external hard drive with Zorin OS 16 Lite because my computer's eMMC chip is dead, but it only boots when I connect it to the USB 2.0 port, and my disk performance is immediately halved. I've heard some computers can't boot from USB 3.0 ports, but is there any way to fix this? There's no options for USB ports in my BIOS

Full laptop model is AO1-431-C8KZ.
I should also mention that this is actually an internal hard drive (2.5''), but it's running with a SATA-To-USB device.
All help is appreciated.

Sorry, USB ports usually will only boot directly from a bootable USB stick, not indirectly from a bootable HDD or SSD using an intermediary USB-to-HDD adapter.

So... that's for USB 3.0 ports, right? I'm using my laptop with Zorin Lite on the hard drive, connected to the USB 2.0 port.
Although I do remember being able to boot off of the USB 3.0 port with a USB drive when I was installing Zorin, so what you said here makes sense.
Just to be sure, buying a USB 3.0 flash drive and then installing Zorin on it should probably allow me to boot from the USB 3.0 port?

Yes, a USB3-certified stick should boot Zorin much faster in the USB3-certified port. Emphasis-added on the word should as opposed to will. :)
