Hi, I recently bought an 8GB 3200Mhz Single Rank in addition to the ram that came with the laptop. Now, I have two ram of same capacity and frequency but different manufacturer. When I use both it underclocks to 2933Mhz. I also tried to change the XMP profile from BIOS but I don't think it is available with this laptop model. But if I use only either the new ram or the ram that came it my laptop, it is in the correct frequency which is 3200mhz. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

Your problem is that the new ram that you bought which I presume is the "Samsung ram?" its "Timing Table" is different to the Micron ram module which is faster, (have a look at them closely) as they are not the same and the Samsung ram module is slower and that is why you are getting a combination of 2933Mhz speeds in Task Manager! As its not only the frequencies that your new ram should match but the timing has to be exactly the same.

I've got an AN515-56 and I've upgraded from its OEM 8GB DDR4-3200 to a total of 16GB DDR4-3200MHz but, I matched exactly the same Acer OEM 8GB DDR4-3200 ram, see SPD Slot #1 to exactly the same new SPD in Slot #5 module that have the exact frequency/timing and manufacturer (see caption below) and that is why they work like virtually buying a 2x ram kit from a manufacturer and work at a combined speed of 3200MHz.

If this lower 2933MHz combined speeds bothers you (as its not much different to 3200MHz speeds) then you need to exchange the new Samsung slower ram to be the exact Acer OEM
Micron Technology DDR4-3200Mhz Part #: 8ATF1G64HZ-3G2R1 module so that you match the OEM Acer fitted ram which can be bought on eBay, Amazon or some of the memory retailers online but make sure that its the same Part #: 8ATF1G64HZ-3G2R1 module and has the same exact TIMING TABLE as that is where your problem is for this lower overall speed. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
