My laptop freezes up and has to be rebooted (hard) like restart battery with the safety pin hard. This happens FREQUENTLY and has been happening for a few months.  What can I do to determine the fix?

There is a known but NOT well documented fault with the batteries in many Acer laptops. ‘This type of fault tends to happen when the device stays connected to AC power all the time, when the device is shutdown using the power button, or when the device runs out of battery too often.’ In my case, I use this laptop as a desktop replacement and leave it plugged into the AC adapter almost all the time. I do not like disconnecting the plug often because I am concerned it will wear out and it is hard to find replacements.  The following post contains more information.

@JKJENKINS I don't know where that car battery answer came from, unless it was a bot... :) To have a chance of giving a good answer we're going to have to know what computer you have. Other than it being an Acer laptop we're pretty much in the dark. The issue is likely to be some app or driver getting weird on you. The battery reset button just disconnects the battery, which forces a power cycle. You can also do the same thing by pressing and holding the power button.
