5 days ago I spilt coffee on keyboard, I mopped it up, tried to log back in, couldn't. Let it dry for 5 days. Restarted it, green login window comes up, mouse works, but it won't type in. Reset bios with a pin on the back. For a little while it was automatically typing in the PIN password then it stopped, saying I've reentered too many times, and wants a challenge code typed in. I can't type it in as the keyboard does nothing. How do I get my computer going again? It's a Predator 17 laptop SN NHQ1TS******************

I'm sorry to tell you that your keyboard needs replacing, liquid damage is the worse thing for keyboards especially RGB type keyboards, as they short out and become useless and its not worth for them to be fixed as it will cost you more than a new keyboard.

The reference number that you have given for your Predator 17 laptop means nothing, please give us the exact model number and country that you are in, like USA, UK, Canada etc as there are many variants to the keyboards that are fitted to the Predator 17 models and some are RGB and some are not, also and its best if you can take the existing keyboard out and see any reference numbers that are on a sticker on the back of the keyboard?

Your Predator 17 model number should be something like G9-7xx as then we can give you the exact keyboard Acer part number(s) that are appropriate to your laptop but, its even better if you can take the existing keyboard out and see if it has either a model number on the back on a sticker? As replacing the keyboard is the only solution of fixing this keyboard, as and also the liquid damage could have damaged other circuitries within the laptop also, which need diagnosing and fixing or your liquid has affected the motherboard (beneath the keyboard area) that might just need thorough cleaning and a keyboard replacement to fix this problem.

The best cleaning liquid that I've used and found to work is to use the good old and simple Zippo lighter fluid and after dry the motherboard thoroughly with a heat gun (or a hair dryer if you don't have a heat gun) until all the components are thoroughly dry! The Zippo lighter fluid is good because its a petroleum/oily base liquid that cleans and also applies a slight oily residue to the top of the motherboard circuitries for protection once the petroleum residue dries up, which alcohol based cleaners don't as they dry up quickly and in allot of cases they don't clean anything just damage circuitries. I've done this many times with liquid damaged laptops and desktop motherboard and its worked very well and revived them in many occasions from liquid damage. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Yeah all you can do is repair it. had to do the same for my acer laptop, the actually did twice for me. The replacement keyboard fit perfectly and was designed for the my laptop that one also broke only the turn on button everything else was fine, but you see how that's a problem. The second time the repair shop I went just replaced the keyboard with one that was maybe a newer model or just a diff model, most of the Fkeys didnt do what they had written on them so the just let me keep the old damaged board so I could get acostemed it. Its Ironic how the keyboard model that was they replaced that was tailored for my system broke in less that a month after repair but the weird model keyboard is still working just fine besides some buttons being weird to press.
