How do you "ID" (Get the specifications for) the original M2 NVme Drive in your Predator??

Hello Everyone,

CPU-Z informed me that my original M2 NVme drive was 1 TB and made by Samsung. That was about it.

I took photos of my drives and RAM when I installed them and I noticed that I could read the "Model Number" on my original drive.
(That number is NOT the same as a Model Number you look up when shopping.)
After several searches, I found specs, read/write speeds, Gen 4,  but NOT a regular Model Number like when you are shopping.

Anyone ELSE ever LOOK UP the (In House) Model Number on their drive??

Is there another way to do that?

Cheers!

@KanagawaTomasu that model might be for OEM so it isn't easy to find it online. The actual model for that SSD is PM9A1. A similar SSD model from Samsung is the 980 Pro.

That was the impression that I got, (that it is an OEM part number) but I was not sure at all. Thanks, very much for your trouble.

If it is similar to a 980 Pro, I am certainly not going to complain about that! Lol

    This PC certainly IS fast.

    Thanks again!

@KanagawaTomasu PM9A1 is just an OEM version of 980 PRO. It is slightly slower than 980 PRO but not noticeable from normal usage. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/pq62o4/samsung_pm9a1_2tb_vs_980_pro_2tb_and_bonus_xpg/ (PM9A1 vs 980 PRO speed test.)

Is the Samsung 980 PRO noticiably faster than the Samsung PM9AI (OEM) drive?

Is it worth the trouble to Migrate my Primary Drive to a Samsung 980 Pro?

    Cheers!

Thanks for the firmware information on my Samsung OEM drive.

I will see if it needs updating, right away.

Otherwise, I am aware of what parts are in my Acer Predator Helios 300.

I have 32 GB of G-Skill DDR4 3200 RAM (Dual Channel and Dual Rank)

    I have THIS OEM Samsung M2NVME drive, a 2nd Acer Predator GM7000, M2NVME Drive, both 1 TB,

    and a Samsung 870 1TB SATA SSD.

I was considering migrating my primary (OEM) drive to a 980 PRO Drive and keeping the original as a back up/secondary drive. I already have the part. (a New Samsung 980 Pro, 1 TB) and an external M2 drive case.

    Thanks again!
