My venerable 8930G has returned to me after loan to my father. I bought it new 2009. Bios version is 1.20, which is latest version on official Acer site.

I've upped the ram to 6GB of DDR3, which works fine with Windows 10 Pro. Installed two x 2.5" SSD which also work fine, albeit at Sata II speeds.

I then ordered an Intel Core 2 quad Q9100, which may be a mistake, because I don't know if the micro code for this CPU is built into Bios 1.20.

Can anyone help as to CPU micro code support in this version of bios?

Same socket. Might work, For a while. Thermal module was designed for dissipating 35watts. Not 45 watts. If it was my trusty 8930G, I probably wouldn't tempt fate to try to squeeze out a bit more speed. But since you already have the Q9100 --- and  just itching to try it --- you might as well do it. Then let us know how it went. :)
