Hi everyone.

I’m about to order this PC tomorrow from Curry’s UK (Predator Orion 5000 PO5-640)….

https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-predator-orion-5000-po5640-gaming-pc-intel-core-i7-rtx-3080-2-tb-hdd-and-1-tb-ssd-10233222.html?awc=1599_1652976678_b246da60df9bee6bf4b3bf4e809fd42f&srcid=369&xtor=AL-1&cmpid=aff~GamingDeals%2Ecom~Comparison%20Engine~88269~Razor+Creations+Ltd&sv1=affiliate&sv_campaign_id=88269

It’s been a while since I’ve had a gaming PC so I’m a bit out the loop. I’ve been reading up on the latest gear and this looks like a pretty good option, but just wanted to get some more options from people who know better about this stuff. I know a pre built out the box isn’t ideal, but as long as it does what I need I’m not to bothered about it being maybe a little more expensive.

I’m getting it mainly for 4K gaming and VR, and thinking this is good enough to play games like MSFS, Cyberpunk etc, in highest quality in 4K and VR?

Thanks for any help.

IMO, these pre built desktops and especially the ACER Predator Orion 5000 PO5-640 Gaming PC that this model has the Intel® Core™ i7-12700 Processor and the excellent RTX-3080 10GB GPU is on the upper spectrum of a gaming setups. I would increase its OEM 16 GB DDR5-4800MHz RAM to at least 32GB or the best is to upgrade to the 64GB maximum installable RAM for this system (for 32GB 2x 16GB or for 64GB 2x 32GB kits) and look also at the Crucial kits of DDR5-4800MHz clock type RAM (do the Crucial System Scan) as that will tell you all the best and max RAM capacity and spec RAM for this desktop.

Also and if you want to play hard core gaming then these desktops have overheating issues when playing in the upper range of gaming with their OEM CPU cooling setups. My suggestion to you is to also upgrade the CPU cooling setup to a top AIO water cooling system like a NZXT Kraken X73 but first measure your internal case spacing to see if these types of water cooling systems will fit?  If you do all these upgrades then your PO5-640 will perform at its peak and at its best performance and be one of the best gaming system out there, as Acer just hasn’t got the budget to retail this desktop at £1,999.00 with those additonal upgrades that I've mentioned. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

    Hi StevenGen.

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for that info mate.

Yeah that sounds good. I was thinking about putting another 8 gig of RAM in pretty soon and now you’ve suggested it, I’ll look into water cooling for a little down the road.

It’s been a minute since I’ve had a decent gaming PC, I just ordered it today so looking forward to it.

    Thanks again!

Yeah man, I got mine just over a month ago now and I’m really pleased with it! Games like Cyberpunk, RDR2 and MSFS look awesome and run really well in 4K. Even with this heat we’ve been having in the UK and only the stock fans, it still manages to stay nice and cool.

    Enjoy yours mate!

Hi all. I was wondering if this PC has any future upgradability options? For example can I install a 13th gen. Intel CPU later on (does the motherboard support 13th gen CPU?). Or a new 4000 series nVidia GPU? I see it already comes with DDR5 memory, which is good.

Appreciate the feedback because I really like Predator products and I love the looks of this machine!

No, the motherboard only supports a single generation of CPUs, so if you have a 12th gen you are limited to what's available for 12th gen, no 11th gen or 13th gen possible.
