Display driver

My Aspire F serires laptop started to have frequent blank or white screens recently.  Resetting the display did not help.  I wanted to uninstall and re-install the display driver as the next step of trouble shooting.  The display adaptor is "Intel HD Graphics family", and apparently a custom-made driver.  Intel warns that "Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues."
   1) I was unable to locate the driver on the Acer website.  It has only the BIOS/firmware update.  Where can I find the customized driver?
   2) If reinstalling the display driver does not work, what are the other things I can try ?

Thank you for your help !

Customized means it's an ACER driver made for it's proprietary mainboard. However, the intermittent black or white screen behavior that you describe is usually due to wear and tear on the LCD screen video cable in the hinge area from opening and closing the lid too much. New replacement cables are fairly inexpensive at less the $24usd.

To check this out, open Device Manager. Click on display adapter folder. Right click and uninstall the intel HD adapter. Exit Device Manager without trying to re-install anything. Then shut down Windows normally. Then turn the machine back on to let Windows automatically re-detect the adapter and reinstall fresh copies of the driver.

If you still see the same screen behavior, then we can first try to re-seat the video cable connectors at the mainboard and base of the LCD screen. If that doesn't work, then we'll have to replace the video cable.
