I've been trying to figure this out for a few months now and have so far been unsuccessful. Depending on where I look, I get different information about this laptop. It obviously doesn't have Thunderbolt, but when you search for the specs, Acer's own website lists this as having Thunderbolt 4 on top of review sites listing the same specs for their reviews of this laptop. Then the laptop manual itself, the specs page linked from the support page, and of course the imprint, or lack thereof, next to the USB-C port doesn't show Thunderbolt at all.

Acer's website showing AN515-57 supporting Thunderbolt 4: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NH.QESAA.001

Specs page reached from the support page only showing USB-C: https://www.acer.com/datasheets/2021/4876/AN515-57/NH.QESAA.001.html

Review from ultrabookreview.com showing Thunderbolt 4 in specs: https://www.ultrabookreview.com/48602-acer-nitro-5-an515-57

Team Acer responding to a question on the Best Buy page for this product 7 months ago stating that this laptop has Thunderbolt 4: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/questions/acer-nitro-5-gaming-laptop-15-6-fhd-144hz-intel-11th-gen-i7-geforce-rtx-3050ti-16gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-windows-11/6462658?page=3

User Manual showing that Thunderbolt 4 is only available on AN515-56 & AN517-53: https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Document/User%20Manual/User%20Manual_Acer_2.0_A_A.pdf?acerid=637662502241034360&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=NITRO&Step3=NITRO%20AN515-57&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6

What's the deal? Can we not rely on Acer's own specs pre-purchase and just have to wait until we get a product in hand to see if we won the lottery?

ArtimSequoia do you know what a Thunderbolt™ 4 Port is or looks like? See captions that I’ve included below of the Nitro 5 and the AN515-57 examples from the manual, my laptop and what a Thunderbolt™ 4 port hub looks like! As I would suggest that you look at your AN515-57 User’s Manual properly and at the Right View section diagram it shows and describes categorically that the Thunderbolt™ 4 Port is for these models "AN515-45 / AN515-57 / AN517-41 / AN517-54" in the top diagram of the manual and it says the following:

    • #1 is a - USB Type-C / Thunderbolt™ 4 port - Connects to USB devices with a USB Type-C connector. Supports Thunderbolt™ 4 and displays.
So I can't see where your problem is? Here is the Right View of my Nitro 5 laptop which should be the same as yours and the "Thunderbolt™ 4 port" (which is the first port on the right side of the caption) should be the same for your AN515-57 and also the Acer manual top diagram of the Right View states that the "Thunderbolt™ 4 port" is for these Nitro 5 models; AN515-45 / AN515-57 / AN517-41 / AN517-54 that are all the same as it states in the manual, it can't be simpler than that.

As per your diagram from Acer`s manual it is cristal clear that only AN515-56 and AN517-53 have TB4 the rest of the models are USB-C only, as per Icons on the picture from the diagram as well, so you are confusing users even more.

I was just about to post this. I made my purchase under false pretenses believing this model has TB4 when it fact does not. I bought mine from Newegg but every listing I have found claims TB4 support. Even more baffling is that in the drivers download section there are drivers and utilities listed for TB. I can eventually get over the fact they lied about TB4 but can we please get some details on exactly what protocols the USB-C port offers? I tried to use a USB-C to VGA adapter for an important business meeting assuming it was a TB port and would work and was left scrambling to find a solution. I've been trying to find an affordable and compatible dock all night and I'm getting more and more frustrated by the false advertising.
