Acer Swift 1 - SF113-31-P1NX does not boot or turns off by itself

Last year I had opened this case on the forum. I had received several suggestions, some from Billsey. I had been through several attempts trying to fix the problem without any luck. The last proposal was to buy a Nvme.SSD in order to bypass the one on the motherboard. I had turned down the suggestion because I was not convinced that it would resolve the issue and I was not willing to throw away dollars for something I did not feel to be the right thing to do.

My last comment (Nov 2021) on the case was to consider the unit as being dead. Consequently, I had put the unit aside with the idea of eventually sending it to a recycling company.

Recently, I have found the unit somewhere in my basement and I thought that I would give it a last try and it worked. I want now to share my approach with the community even though my thread has been flushed. Here are all the steps I have been through to bring back to life my laptop.

·         I have disabled the lid open resume option from the BIOS

·         I have downloaded the most recent ISO version of Windows 10 from Microsoft and saved it to a USB key

·         I have erased all partitions from the internal disk using the bootable USB key containing the ISO

·         I have installed Windows 10

·         While configuring Windows 10 I told Windows that I was not connected to internet

·         Using another computer, I went to the Acer Support site to download almost all drivers for my model and saved them to a USB key. One of them was older than what was installed by Windows

·         I also went to the Intel site to download the Driver Assistant

·         Back to my laptop, I went through the installation of each driver on my USB key

·         Before installing the Intel Driver Assistant, I configured the laptop for access to internet

·         I have installed the Intel Driver Assistant and proceeded with the suggested updates ignoring the one for the video card

·         Once all of this was done, I let Windows update the operating system

·         The laptop is now alive and running like it used to be over a year ago

Here is another happy ending.

    Hi @yaudette,

    Try to do power drain,

    1. Turn OFF the unit.

    2. Unplug the charger.

    3. At the bottom there will be a tiny pin hole with battery sign close to it take a pin or paper clip and insert into it hold that button for 20-30 seconds. Then turn ON the unit and check.
