I want to reset my A500 to get rid of encryption. Will reset revert back to original OS?

I've had my A500 for a little over a year and want to reset it to remove encryption. When I first unboxed and set up my a500, I opted for the extra security of encryption. When I did this, a notice popped up that the only way to remove encryption was to reset the tablet. At the time, the tablet was running Honeycomb. It has since been updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.

My question is this... Since ICS is already installed, will the factory reset affect the OS at all? ...or will I have to reinstall it.

If I have to reinstall it, will Acer still have it available so I can reinstall the ICS upgrade?

I've backed up all my personal files. I'd like to avoid rooting as much as possible.

Resetting the tablet will not downgrade to honeycomb, as OS upgrades are irreversible.

What can I do to get my A500 to "Factory Restore" and delete the info on it now? Basically wipe it clean? I tried to do a Factory restore but it won't work.

I just went to settings>backup and restore>then click the factory data reset. It took a while. Though I did back up all my personal files, documents, pics, etc., I regret not backing up my data settings to google. (My games were reset, so all my progress was lost.)

If your Acer doesn't have ICS, then you'll probably have to try one or more of

Have you searched youtube for "resetting acer a500? Here's a helpful clip -->  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZ6Wyjt7Lag

(you might have to copy and paste it)

You can also try inserting a small pin into the "reset" hole (located on the right hand side of your acer a500, below the USB ports).

I hope this helps. Robot Happy
