I installed a BIOS update and now my computer screen isn't working but my second monitor is working.

Well the title pretty much explains everything. I have an Acer Swift 114-32 and I downloaded a BIOS update because I wasn't able to boot from a USB (problem that i'll have to get to later because this is a more pressing issue) and I wasn't able to use my computer for a few hours but I plugged in the HDMI cable and now everything works normally except the screen on my actual computer doesn't work only the screen on my monitor works. How do I fix my original screen? I ordered some torx screwdrivers which should be arriving tomorrow or the next day in case I need to open the laptop. Thank you for any help you can provide!

    Hey jefkalso30fj3lf, bios updates are never ever done just for the sake of an update like other software updates, or if you presume that it will fix things! You only do a bios update for what its title says that it fixes and/or updates e.g. your Swift 114-32 last bios version is the version 1.15 that its titles says categorically that it “Updates kernel code and microcode version” as this is in relation to the cpu utilization codes and its software and has nothing to do with “update because I wasn't able to boot from a USB” which is a totally different thing, see this “Windows (11/10/8/7) Won't Boot From USB” so you can fix that.

    I don’t know what you did wrong with this bios flash? As doing a bios update and flashing its file is a very simple click of a .exe file that its done through and within Windows and you must take certain common sense precautions like these;

    1. You do not run any other software, while the bios file is flashing,

    2. You disable all anti-virus and malware software,

    3. You always have your PC on mains power of your Swift 114-32

    4. You never ever turn the laptop off or be in a position that your laptop will go into a BSOD blue screen, as all this will brick your laptop.

    My advice to you is this, try to uninstall the Intel graphics drivers completely through Device Manager and then install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant software that will update all your Intel chipset and graphics drivers to the latest/last drivers available for your laptop and its OS, also open the laptop and disconnect the battery for 5-10min as that will also reset the bios. So try all that and see if your laptops screen works by doing all this. Otherwise and if all this does not work then it could be your screens backlight or connections that has something to do with this screen not working, as a bios update (if done properly?) will not damage and/or make your screen not work, as and as you have said, that an external monitor works which means that your cpu's graphics work so your screen should work.

    Use the external screen to enter the BIOS and reset it to defaults. My guess is it has gotten confused enough to forget what GPU is attached. Once you have the screen working start a new thread for the boot issue and we'll step you through it. It's actually pretty easy to do, unless you are working with a really weird setup.

    Hi @jefkalso30fj3lf,

    1. Select Start , then open Settings .
    2. Under System , select Display . ...
    3. Use the dropdown list next to the image of your desktop to choose how your screen will project across your displays.
    4. Once you've chosen your setup, select Apply.
