Predator Orion 3000 - PSU Making clicking noise on shutdown ?

Hi all,

Had my predator PC for roughly a week now and all is well, however today I noticed upon shutdown that the PSU is now producing a somewhat noisy clicking sound and is persistent.

I’ve looked around and can’t seem to find much of an answer and it looks like this is something that can’t be replaced either due to their new models. Can anyone provide some insight into this at all ?

Thanks all !

    Hi there and welcome!

If you do a search on this forum, you'll find few threads about this issue. Few PSU's even sparked/shoted and a loud crack could be heard. At least one person sent his PCs back to Acer for a PSU replacement, but unfortunately even the new unit made similar sounds. So what you hear is most likely caused by low quality components or some kind of a issue at the production line.

Since your PC is brand new, I'd contact Acer (or the store where you bought it) and let them know about your concerns. PSU is not supposed to make any sounds when the PC is turned off. Maybe they can offer you a remedy, but I doubt it.

    Hi @LSWood,

Your power supply making clicking noises or shutting itself down is its way of warning you about one of its faulty connections. It cuts off power if there's a voltage difference, so the components don't get damaged further.
