ConceptD 7 (CC715-71) pen suddenly (permanently?) stops working while I am drawing

Never had an issue with this before. Just an hour or so ago I was drawing and suddenly - literally mid line - my computer stops receiving all pen input. Everything else is normal, even touch input. I usually use a LAMY EMR pen, so I thought initially that the pen was busted, but the stylus that comes with the laptop doesn't work either. Restarting doesn't help, updating a bunch of drivers (just scanned for outdated ones with Driver Booster) doesn't help either. Is there a specific driver I should be looking for perhaps? or a another issue? Would appreciate and knowledge or tips anybody could give about this. thanks.

Most active stylus pens automatically deactivate after a short time without use, to save power. Improper storage while not in use can cause battery drain. Store the stylus flat with no pressure applied to the tip or buttons.
