I got acer nitro 5 AN515-57 and the browsers kept crashing. Tried everything from reinstalling browsers, clearing cache, everything I could, and even got windows reinstalled on the laptop but the browsers crash out of the blue. Not sure what the issue is... Tried looking on the internet but found no solution. All other programs are working perfectly, just the browsers built over chromium keep crashing. tried 2, Chrome and Opera GX. but to no avail. I could really use some help as it is affecting my work productivity...

4% is not enough for a 250GB SSD. 10% or 25GB is sort of a suggested minimum. But it's too late now.  An errant Windows update might've caused the issue. Unfortunately, its restore point long gone with only 10GB allocation.

If you really need a Cr browser right now, then I suggest a factory OEM Windows reset might keep it from crashing till the errant update makes it start crashing again. Then you can identify the update, reverse it and temporarily block it from re-installing till the issue is resolved in a future Windows update

Don't forget to include Edge. Many folks are complaining out these resource hog browsers crashing their systems. Temporarily switch to FireFox to avoid the problem if possible till Chrome-based browser updates fix the issue.

The funny thing is that this did not happen on my old laptop with an i3 processor and 4 gigs of RAM.

@chaitanyabathia what kind of crashing that you are experiencing? Like cannot play the video or just show an error when you want to use those browsers.
Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

@AnhEZ28 the browsers go into unresponsive state. Then popup says, this program has stopped responding. And then it shuts down and windows is reporting this error something like that.

Try to run the latest Chrome browser version on it to see what happens. :) Use FireFox.

@JackE I did. I ran the latest chrome on both laptops. old one ran fine, acer nitro led to chrome crash.
I have resorted to using Firefox at last and it didn't crash even once.

Is it running Win10 or Win11? There are some video updates at this link. BIOS update should only be  tried as a last resort due to the risk of bricking the machine. I'd continue to use FireFox before trying a BIOS update.

@JackE I am running win10. I tried everything i knew, contacted the service center for Acer and got the system checked. They found nothing and so I took to updating the BIOS. That too didn't work.

    (1) Did you reinstall the generic version of Win10 from Microsoft? Or the ACER factory OEM version from the hidden factory partition on the boot drive?

    (2) Has Chrome-based browsers ever worked properly on this laptop?

    1. I got generic version of windows10 from Microsoft.

    2. It did work normally for about the first 2 days both times, when bought new and after reinstalling windows

    (1) About how long ago did it work properly since reinstalling Windows? A week ago? A month ago? Longer?

    (2)  Is System Protection turned on Control Panel's restore point app?

It worked properly for around 2 days. I got the laptop a month ago, and got windows reinstalled about a week ago.

    Yes system protection is on.

If System Protection is turned on in Control Panel's restore point app, click the System Restore button. Click next. Do you see and automatic restore point with a date stamp about when the Cr browser started crashing again?

No there was no restore point around the day the browser was working properly. Also, I checked again, but automatic restore point was not created

Are there any restore points at all? Also checkmark box to show more restore points.

There is one restore point i created manually, but that was after these crashes started.

How much space is allocated on the boot drive for restore points?
