Multiple Displays off of Triton 300

At a loss on what to try next, my goal is to utilize two additional extended displays on my Predator Triton 300.

One additional is simple - HDMI from computer to DVI into the back of the monitor - Done.

Two is giving me fits. I have tried so many things at this point:

I have tried multiple iterations of MiniDisplay Port to DVI, either by a straight cable (mDP to DVI) or through an adaptor that goes mDP to DVI and then DVI to DVI. Each time the monitor which I know works otherwise says no signal. It is like the MiniDisplayPort is not putting out any signal at all, I have never seen anything come from it.

I borrowed a USBc display adaptor offering VGA, displayport, HDMI, DVI and the computer gives a message stating "display connection might be limited" and I am seeing indications that the Triton 300 does not allow for display adaptors through USBc (no Alternate Mode?).

Anyone have some insight into this?

What is your full model number? For example, PT315-52?

Sorry, your displayport out does not natively support dvi video signal output. So a passive displayport-2-dvi form factor adapter won't work. You need an active displayport-2-dvi signal converter. The following signal converters have been reported to do the job but not 100% guaranteed. Prices seem to vary wildly. You'd also need a passive minidp-2-dp adapter with some of them.

Another problem is that these active converters are probably not suitable for gaming due to low refresh rates usually under 30Hz

Likewise, your USB ports are data only. They don't natively support alternate mode video out. So you'd need an active USB-2-video signal converter. Users have reported the following USB to dp signal converters work for data-only USB ports in HDMI & DisplayPort form factors. Gefen reportedly offered an active USB-2-dvi signal converter but may not be available anymore.

I'm just glad you can confirm that I am not being a bonehead and that I am not going insane!

I don't need this 3rd screen for gaming - that would be on the attached monitor or via the HDMI. I would use the extra monitor for work, more screen area for the various software I use (quickbooks, excel, and {cough} access) and I am trying to convince myself that I do not need my desktop (since this laptop is more current). If that would lead you to narrow your suggestions down, I am all ears, but I will check out the links you provided

Thank you for the low-down on the display outs on this computer - sort of unfortunate that the display port doesn't do display port things. Makes me wonder what the intent for the port was / why it was included.
