Question about extra storage slot for Nitro 5 AN515-57-556R

Hi, I've been looking around for a confirmation regarding the storage slot combability for my specific model, I just want to make sure what is compatible with my laptop before I purchase anything.

Here are the questions:
1) Is SATA SSD 2.5 supported for the extra HDD slot? I looked around the internet but I didn't find a clear answer. I think most of the answers just say that they are compatible, but does inserting a SSD on that slot give me the fast speed of an SSD? Because it only said its an HDD slot.

2) Are NVME supported for the second slot on my specific model? Same as before, the answer was kind of unclear for me. Or does the 2nd slot can only support a normal M.2 stick?

I will admit that I'm not as knowledgeable on these sort of stuff, so forgive me if the answer is something obvious
Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Yes, you can use a 2.5" SSD in the HDD bay but if you are going to use it as a storage device, there's no point in using a SATA SSD in my opinion, normal spinner drive will be sufficient for storage.
As for the second M.2 slot, you can use a M.2 NVMe SSD.

    1. 2.5-inch SATA SSD is compatible and provides the maximum speed of SATA 3 (~550MB/s)
    2. For the 2nd M.2 Slot, it supports both M.2 SATA and NVMe.
If you need more storage for games, I would suggest getting an M.2 SATA or 2.5-Inch SSD. NVMe does not have any significant differences in gaming other than faster file writing and reading. But if you find 2 M.2 SSD types that have almost the same price, the NMVe is better overall.
Please remember to include @AnhEZ28 when you want to reply back to my comment so that I can check your response.
Thank you and have a nice day!

Thank you for all these information! I was looking thought the paper manuals they gave out in the box but I didn't find anything related to my question and I didn't see any of the screenshot you provided. I even search through the website and open the online manual and I didn't see any of this, it might be I opened a wrong one or simply missed it but thank you again for providing these info for me. ^^

Ah, I was worried because I thought that it might not support the SSD speed since it doesn't mention anything about SSD, only HDD, but seems like the other commenter said that it should support the speed, so I might get an SSD on a later date. But yeah, Over here the cost of an HDD and an SSD is not that different, so I might as well get an SSD instead of HDD for faster game load. Thank you for the site link and the answer thought ^^

That's good to know, that is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll look at the price difference between an M.2 and NVMe first then before I finalized my purchase
