Before following the procedure, you must press & hold the power button till the laptop completely shuts off even if you must press the power button for 60 seconds. No power LED should be on.

Then you must try the procedure again. At least two more times. It  doesn't always work on the first try.

    (1) Must use an empty FAT32 format USB thumbdrive with an activity LED..
    (2) Unzip the latest ACER BIOS v1.10 zipfile at this link. Look for isflash.bin or BIOS_GLK.ROM file. If you can't find it, the unzipped EXE file must be run to further extract on another Windows machine
                                https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8063?b=1
    (3) Rename isflash.bin to BIOS_GLK.ROM and copy it  to thumbdrive.
    (4) Plug charger in. Battery must be fully charged. Plug thumbdrive in.
    (5) Press and hold FN+ESC and turn machine on.
    (6) Release FN+ESC when activity LED blinks repeatedly
    (7) If successful, machine will auto shutdown after about 5mins
    (8) Remove USB and try to turn machine back on.

    OK.
    (1) First unplug the charger.
    (2) Remove 11 screws from the bottom cover and pry it off with the help of a credit card plastic wedge or pick. Don't mix the top 2 screws with the 9 others. They are different sizes
    (3) Disconnect the battery pack connector from the mainboard.
    (4) Then unplug the CMOS coin cell connector from the mainboard.
    (5) Then  short the CMOS cell's mainboard connector with the blade of a screwdrive for aboiut 10 seconds to try to force the BIOS chip to its default state.

Put everything back together and try it again.

Now try to flash it again with the FN+ESC method. Double check that the filename on the flash USB is exactly uppercase BIOS_GLK.ROM.

    (1) Plug charger in. Battery must be fully charged. Plug thumbdrive in.
    (2) Press and hold FN+ESC and turn machine on.
    (3) Release FN+ESC when activity LED blinks repeatedly. Power LED also changes to orange. Tianacore logo should also show
    (4) If successful, machine will auto shutdown after about 5mins
    (5) Remove USB and try to turn machine back on.

    it must be "BIOS_GLK.ROM" not "BIOS_GLK.ROM.exe" ??

YES!!! You must extract the binary .ROM or .BIN from the Windows executable EXE file on a different Windows machine. You cannot just re-name a Windows EXE  because the redumentary BIOS chip is a very low level programmable component that cannot read a high level Windows executable EXE even if renamed.

When running the EXE on a  different machine, you should get an error  message. Don't close the error message. Leave the message on the screen. Then open File Explore. The search the C ; \users directory for " H2O*.* " In the temporary subfolder found with this search, look for a ROM,  BIN, WPH, or FD extension file. The most common is isflash.bin though in some cases you might actually find BIOS_GLK.ROM. If you find isflash.bin, then it must be renamed exactly as written BIOS_GLK.ROM

Check again for isflash.bin in the original unzipped download folder that you found the BIOS_GLK.ROM.EXE file in. The acer download site is having problems right now so I can't download it and try to find it for you. A user last month at this link was able to find it so it must be in there.

The best option is to ask Which file to download here?

Rolling back to the top, why would an Acer commercial laptop have " TianoCore, the community supporting an open source implementation of the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface" ? Something is wonkey here. Most of mine have an Insyde BIOS.

padgett  Because the a315-34 uses this Intel open source stuff. Maybe an omen of where things are heading. :)

I'm still having trouble with the download site. Perhaps you can send a PM to therock9378  and ask how he found isflash.bin.

Is that what the "34" means ? My A317-52 has an Insyde Bios like most of the rest of my Acers.

It's also an InsydeH2O BIOS. But to help keep everybody even further confused about all undocumented BIOS firmware things, it uses Intel open source stuff. So the old rule of thumb still holds more strongly than ever before. If your old BIOS firmware seems to be working OK, don't try to fix it. :)
