Brand new Acer Swift 3 (SF313-53-77NL) error on setup, unable to re-start(!!!)

Hi, I literally just turned on my Acer Swift 3, began the setup tutorial and got to the network selection screen. By the time I'd grabbed the wifi code from the kitchen, I got a "Your device ran into a problem - sad face" error and the screen was flickering like crazy.

Now I can't load the laptop whatsoever - a power cycle leads to the keyboard turning on and fan starting, but the screen remains blank.

What the hell!!?? This is a brand new laptop!!??

Anyone know how to fix?

UPDATE: I tried a battery reset... got the Acer logo and a "Security Boot Fail" and then a continued blank screen.

Subsequent attempts no longer return the Acer logo, just a blank screen for eternity.

Guess this thing is going back where it came from. What a piece of garbage. Thanks Acer.

Yup, it sounds like what you got is what's called a "child failure", a unit that passed tests in the factory but fails very early on. Just have the vendor swap it out and let them deal with the warranty process.

    Hi @alexjames82,

    # Try to get the BIOS page.
    1. Turn OFF the unit.
    2. Press and hold the F2 key and turn on the unit.
    3. You will be in setup utility page.
    4. Once you got the screen release the F2 key.
    5. Tap on F9 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    6. Tap on F10 key and hit enter key without changing the option.
    7. Your unit will restart by itself.

Check this T/S and post the result.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried rebooting with most of the function keys pressed - nada! Ending up taking the unit back and have a replacement ordered. Hopefully it won't happen a 2nd time!
