Predator 15 Laptop
Replaced main battery and CMOS battery, still doesnt power on. Attempting to fix this laptop for my coworker. The lights indicating power to laptop, but doesn't boot at all. Attached a pic of damaged part on Motherboard. Would this piece cause the laptop not to boot up? Is there way to replace this part without replacing whole motherboard?

    I'm still having a hard time seeing what you think is damaged in the picture on the left.

    What's the full model number? There are dozens of predator 15" helios and triton models with different mainboards. For example, PH315-54? Or PT515-22?

    A  zoom out photo is needed to show more of the mainboard.

    I took another photo, and I will put back cover on to see if that presses the button you pointed out. Thank you

    The laptop still doesn't boot up at all while that button is pressed. I'm suspicious if this motherboard is a lost cause and will need replacing, but can't seem to find a price less than 300 for it.

    @RTucker89,

    Try to boot it without the battery. Unplug it.
    With only the power cord plug to the unit, try booting it up.

    I had this issue before. It won't boot up because of the battery issue.
    But when battery is detached it is booting up normally.

    Hope this can help.

    @JackE yes, that is the only physical damage I can see on the motherboard. Do you know what piece that is? @ Rabatun, I did try this already, and also bought a new battery, but does not boot up either way. Thank you for your suggestion.

    >>>yes, that is the only physical damage>>>

    Let me try to re-phrase my comment, While I can see the area that you're referring to below, I can't actually see the damage in that area that you think is there?

    A critical chip in that area which tends to overheat is the CPU platform hub controller (PCH). If the failure was due to a solder joint failure, it might be recovered with a heat gun reflow.  But more likely is that the chip popped.
