Find correct SSHD mounting hardware for Helios 300 (PH315-52-78VL)

I have this 2TB SSHD (https://www.seagate.com/www-content/datasheets/pdfs/firecuda-2-5-sshd-DS1908-2-2006US-en_US.pdf) and would like to install in my laptop. I don't believe the laptop came with the requisite mounting hardware. I tried to request it via this form (https://csapps.acer.com/kit-request/#submit) but I'm getting an error that says "Part number NH.Q5MAA.001 is not valid for this form."

How can I figure out the right install kit to buy? And where can I buy it?

You enter the machine's serial number id (SNID), not the part number. If you don't know the SNID, go to the elevated command prompt. Then enter 'wmic bios get serialnumber'. The result is the SNID that you enter on the https://csapps.acer.com/kit-request/#submit form.

By the way, rather than adding another bracket and more screws to the inside of an already crowded interior, small piece of antistatic foam can protect and immobilize the 2.5" inside the case just fine.

Thanks for your response, Jack. I did enter my SNID in that form, which is what makes the error that much more confusing!

Is that mounting kit just a bracket and screws? I feel like I also need an accessory wire to plug in the drive. But maybe I'm wrong? I haven't opened up the laptop yet, so maybe I should check that out first too.

Thanks for the tip RE antistatic foam.

If the machine was purchased outside the US or Canada, the SNID probably won't work as the kit request is for those markets only

You'd at least need the 2.5" HDD/SSD ribbon cable part no. 50.Q5MN4.005 (less than $15usd) if it's not already installed on the mainboard. So yes, it would be best if you could peer inside to see what's in there already. The disassembly instruction videos found by google searching "ph315-52" & "disassembly" seem to be about as good as any official ACER documentation.

If the cable is already there, all you need is the SSHD and a few strips of foam and you're in business. If it was mine, however, I'd go full bore fast with 2.5" WesternDigital blue SSD series. 1TB capacity just about the best deal on the planet right now.
