Press FN+F6 or FN+F5 to try to turn the screen on.

Did this happen suddently without warnings for no apparent reason? If yes, what happens when you HDMI out to a TV set?

I was using my laptop one minute in full colour then the next second there was a clicking sound then the screen went black. I don't have a TV or monitor that I can connect my laptop to.

Also it's not recognising my USB external keyboard. When i plug it in it briefly flashes the LED light for a split second then the lights fail to work. Pressing the Caps Lock button doesn't turn the LED light on or off.

When you first turn it on and immediately tap the F2 key, can you see a BIOS menu?

I've tried holding down F2 at startup and no BIOS menu appears

Do you even see any ACER startup logo? Or possibly a faint screen glow from the screen's LED backlight?

    >>> I don't have a TV or monitor that I can connect my laptop to.>>>

Do you have a friend or relative with a TV set that you can test the HDMI output? If you can see a TV screen, it only might be a simple inexpensive replacement of the video cable that will fix the problem.
