Hi, I've problem to connect external disc drive to USB-C in Swift 3 SF314-42-R275. Does anyone sucessfully used external disc on USB-C in this model?
I don't see thunderbolt sign in this model. It's probably USB-C 3.1 gen 1 with charge option.

Drive does not start (no power).  It is connected with a USB-A (drive) to USB-C (Acer) cable. I've tried two different USB-A - USB-C cables and both not working.

After connecting the phone to USB-C (with cable USB-C to USB-C), it charges and I can download data also the same external drive connected to Swift laptop but with a USB-A - USB-A cable works without any problems.

Hi, this is 2,5" SATA II drive in pocket case which is USB 2.0. Disk doesn't have external power and take power from USB. Work without problems on USB 3.0 and 2.0 socket in same laptop but won't start connected to USB-C. I will try with better case (USB-C) and try better cable or some TPLINK adapter USB-C to USB-A and try it with cable USB-A to USB-A.

Your model has a Type-C (Full function (USB3.1 Gen2 + DP + PD)) port, so shouldn't have any problem with an external drive that is also USB-C. It sounds however like your drive is USB-A (likely 3.0)? Does it work plugged into your 3.1 port on that same side?

Hi, thx for answer. Drive is USB-A 2.0 (Serial ATA II in pocket case) and it works connected on every USB-A in this laptop 2.0, 3.1 and in older laptop.

That pretty much has to either be a cable that's not passing the power through or the drive is balking at having too much power (unlikely). Your USB-C port provides up to 3A of power, the USB 2.0 drive is expecting no more than 0.5A. Does the drive have external power? That was pretty common with the older drives, since the HDD needed both +5V and +12V.
