AC Mains Adapter compatibility - Acer Aspire ES1-512-C5YW

Hi. I've been given an Acer Aspire ES1-512-C5YW. I don't know if it works and I haven't got an AC mains adapter for it. To test it, I can borrow one for an Aspire 5749. If ok, I'll buy a new adapter.

Please tell me if I can use any Acer adapter that's 19v and current not less than the original? Both these are 19V and the connectors seem the same size. What is the connector polarity and are all Acers the same? Is there a good third party make, or should it be authentic Acer?

Thank you.

Yes, if the plug physically fits the jack, the polarity is the same. Center pin positive. The current or amps mainly governs how fast the battery charges. With the machine turned off, insert the plug but wait for the battery charge LED to turn from solid or blinking orange to steady blue before trying to turn it on.

Just google search "ES1-512" and "charger" for vendors who ship to your location. They are very inexpensive. Usually less then $15usd. A word of caution on the battery if its been sitting discharged below the 5% charge level. It may be irreversibly damaged and may not be able to be fully recharged. That's why it's important  not to try to use or boot the system until the battery charge LED turns to steady blue.

Like battery packs, they're commodity items only made by a few OEMs. All about the same quality. And usually re-labelled by re-sellers. ACER for example, isn't a charger OEM. However, Acer might re-label them sometimes. Sometimes not..

Amazon has a good selection, personally look for 65W and both 5.5x1.7mm and 3.0x1.1mm tips for maximum versitility. BTW many Acer monitors use the same power supply.

Thank you for all the advice. My one remaining question is, how good or bad are the third party adapters? I've heard that some makes are ok and some are awful. I don't know which ones though! Delta adapters seem to be sold a lot on eBay UK, how good are they?
