I think I finally solved my problem!  I found THIS on Amazon :

Sandisk MobileMate Memory Stick Plus Memory Stick Reader

It's just what I need for my old SONY camera...made just for the Memory Sticks that I use.  And it's dirt cheap as well. Fingers crossed that this will work...from reading the reviews..sounds like many purchasers also have older Sonys and they were able to use this one.

Good find. Even cheaper. Nice two-tone color too. Looks like padgett got robbed on his hot pink transcend. Should work good. :)

I'm just hoping it will work on my ACER Aspire 5!

If a USB thumbdrive works, this should work too. Because the thumdrive prove's nothing wrong with the laptop's USB port. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you don't get another lemon. :)

Flash drives have a USB connector. SD cards (regular and micro) have many contacts and are more square. Some have a security lock on the side.
See here and here. Originally there were only SD cards, HC, and XC came later.

To keep things more confused amongst us, I think there was a miniSD card memory stick sqeezed in between a regularSD and microSD memory card sticks.

And to  further confuse. Before any SD memory card sticks were invented, there were the infamous PC card memory sticks. They're main advantage is that they weren't too square or small.  Nobody likes being too square and small. They were more rectangular and bigger like my cherished credit card.

Anyway, the moral to the story? Don't be square. Get with the program. High resolution digital cameras with wireless bluetooth connectivity is where it's at today. No more square SD cards. No more rectangular PC cards. Just download images from a brandy new bluetooth high resolution camera storage to PC storage in thin air.

I do it now with my AARP $35 cellular phone camera with bluetooth. But only 2 megapixel resolutions. Good enough for me.  :)

wow...this is soooooo confusing for me!  I just want to use my good ole Sony camera like I used to!  I have a $15 dumb phone from Walmart for the few times I make or receive a phone call.  I use Skype for most of my calls...and it's free to my family members.  I hate technology!  I've been trying for the past 30 minutes to join and important ZOOM call and can't figure that out either!  :-(

Heh-heh. :) My AARP is also a flip dumb phone specially designed for geezers like me. Unlimited calls & text for $15/mo with my 5% AARP discount & $5/mo new line credit. Also 1GB data that I can't use cuz it's dumb.  But it fits nicely in my pants pocket to make up for no data. Plus it does what a telephone is supposed to do --- just like in the good old days gone by. I'm pretty confident that your good old Sony card will work fine again too with your $6 Amazon purchase.

Thanks Jack!  I've been using TELO for my really inexpensive phone service...unlimited calls to Mexico, USA and Canada.  I like that..I think it's only $8.00/month!

Congrats. Thanks for reporting back success with your $6 purchase. However, what else did you have to  buy to meet the minimum purchase amount to qualify for free shipping? :)
