I know the keyboard backlight can be set to turn off after 30 s, but I want it to remain on as long as the display is on. I have a Nitro 5 laptop

For my Aspire laptop, I can change the BIOS setting to let the backlit on all the time ( believe it is one of the options in the Main tab).
Keep tapping F2 key during bootup to reach the BIOS.

Let me forewarn you that if you are running the laptop on battery, it will cut down your battery up time by half or even more.

I know that, but how do I set the keyboard backlight to turn off when the display does?

Have you tried getting to the BIOS yet?
For my Aspire laptop, it is the F8 (the one with the "A" charater with some shining rays sign) that toggle keyboard backlight on/off.

Other keyboards maybe using F9 for that.

Yeah the keyboard brightness can be adjusted manually, but I wanted to make the keyboard turn off by simply turning off the display. I have an Asus computer that does this.

Again, if you find that F8 or F9 function key with that "A" charater, that should do it.

I don't want to tell you the third time if you don't try to find it from your laptop keyboard.

If you are saying you want to turn off the display with a function key and the keyboard backlight will turnoff simultaneously then I will say there is no such thing. The laptop is not custm tailored for your need. This is an Acer laptop, not an Asus.

Yeah, the keyboard brightness can be adjusted manually.
