I have an acer nitro 5 gtx1050 and I got this monitor for it: https://www.amazon.com/VP249QGR-Monitor-FreeSync-Extreme-DisplayPort/dp/B083FMP35T/ref=pd_ybh_a_4/141-9745291-8523669?pd_rd_w=rjS0J&pf_rd_p=45643f1d-9a87-41c0-924d-e7e382d48035&pf_rd_r=TT4J7TY6MT0FFRVDDVMG&pd_rd_r=7369e4ca-ed36-4728-9387-b5490f2c5446&pd_rd_wg=KvJwf&pd_rd_i=B083FMP35T&th=1

Does the laptop support freesync with only hdmi? Do I have to use the display cable that was with the monitor? Will it work if I just use an adapter for the display cable? Please help.

    Hi @prpwv,

    Did you try to connect it with VGA or DP cable.

    The 1050 wont be able to enable gsync compatible mode as it needs either HDMI 2.1 which is introduced on the 30 series, or displayport which the laptops dont have im afraid :(. Its due to VRR not being part of the HDMI spec

    @Leostat
    If I use an adapter from display to hdmi will it work?

    I dont belive so, as the adapter is just adapting the image, its not able to control features for the gpu / shape whats being output
