I have an AN515-55-5838 (i5-10300H, RTX 3060), and i am looking to buy a monitor. I am wondering if my laptop can actually support 144hz monitors? The refresh rate for my laptop screen is 144hz. Thanks!

Of course the Nitro AN515-55 can be setup for an external 144Hz monitor but, you need to connect the monitor properly and setup the Win-10 display settings and NVIDIA GeForce or RTX Experience Control Panel (depends what card you have?) accordingly so that the laptop works off an external monitor as its not just PnP type connection. Connect the monitor first then go to NVidia GTX or RTX Experience Control Panel and look at the Display settings on the left and set the Display Resolution to the appropriate rate of your 144 Hz monitor e.g.  1920 x 1080 and choose the maximum Refresh rate for your monitor then do the same within Win-10 on the desktop right click Display settings > Display (go to the bottom) to Advanced display settings > and change refresher rate to 144Hz and make sure that you have Display 1 selected above at Choose display. Make sure that you use a Display Port cord as that is the best cord to use for 144Hz but you can use a HDMI 1.4 cord or higher type cord as anything below 1.4 will not work. Alos make sure that the laptop is setup to external monitor when laptop lid is closed settings which is another setting see this guide here "How to Close Laptop Lid and Still Use External Monitor Win 10/11?" good luck and hope this helps you out.

Ok thanks! I don’t actually have a DisplayPort, only a HDMI, but I’m unsure what type the port is. Does that matter or is it just the cord?

    Hi @Absorb,

    1) Go to NVIDIA Control Panel, select Change resolution. 2) In the Refresh rate pull down menu, select 144Hz or the highest refresh rate available and then apply the settings. This will allow you to use 144hz while using NVIDIA gtx1660ti graphics while gaming or high requirement for graphics needed.
