Aspire 5 A515-45-R2A3. Getting BSOD trying to boot into Windows 10 without Secure Boot?

Okay.

I have multi-boot setup in my Acer Aspire 5 A515-45-R2A3.

After installing Windows updates, I am consistently getting BSOD trying to boot into Windows 10 whenever secure boot is disabled. If I enable secure boot again, I can successfully boot into Windows 10 no problem, but all other Linux distros won't.

The BSOD message is the following:

 SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

At first I suspected it was a compatibility issue with the Acer Touchpad driver specifically since there are reports regarding the same problem with different Acer laptop models (eg Aspire E1-571), but it's not the case.

So why do you think I'm getting BSOD? Any ideas on how to fix this?

Update: just tried to boot into Windows 10 again and got the same BSOD error now with Secure Boot enabled.
Another strange behavior I noticed is that when I was able to boot into Windows 10, when in Ubuntu I could use the Touchpad but not the Wifi adapter, but now that I can't boot into Windows 10 (BSOD) I can't use the Touchpad but can use the Wifi adapter. What's going on? I haven't modified any BIOS settings.
So can it be a corrupted BIOS? Or the memory?
I really liked and wanted to keep this laptop but it's giving me a lot of unexpected errors!

Stop Code System_Thread_Exception_Not_Handled is a Windows 10 issue that mostly occurs during boot time. ... Whenever it System_Thread_Exception_Not_Handled error occurs, your computer shuts down and gets frozen with a blue screen. Based on system configuration, your computer may reboot itself.

Check the BIOS version and update it.

Thanks! I already have the latest BIOS version 1.08 installed, so I am not sure what the problem is (could it be a corrupted BIOS?).

Edit: discard everything I wrote previously about the Touchpad and Wifi adapter not working together, they do work together just fine in whatever OS. The real problem is that the BSOD only occurs when trying to boot into Windows 10 after restarting the laptop from a Linux session. Therefore if I shutdown the laptop after using Linux, it will successfully boot into Windows 10 without any error messages. Checking the minidump files it gives me the filename "ntkrnlmp.exe" as the culprit, but I don't know exactly what that is yet. I am still testing.
  • Try enabling safe boot: press windows+r, type msconfig, go to system boot and enable safe boot. Then try disabling secureboot in bios.
