When I am typing on the internet, such as this website or Facebook, how do I type French accent symbols, such as the accent aigu type for the 'e' at the end of 'fiancee'? I am using an Acer S7 laptop running Windows 10. My Keyboard's default input method is set to English (Australia) - US. I have tried various solutions found on the internet:
1. Type single quote + e (as per Alliance Francaise https://www.aflahaye.nl/en/faq/how-to-type-french-accents/)
1. Type single quote + e (as per Alliance Francaise https://www.aflahaye.nl/en/faq/how-to-type-french-accents/)
2. Type Ctrl + ` + e (as per Microsoft https://support.microsoft.com/search/results?query=type+french+accent+symbol&isEnrichedQuery=false)
Merci in advance.

I followed the Quora.com user's recommendation, which is to:1. In the Start Menu's search field, typed 'Character Map'.
2. In the Character Map menu, clicked the accent aigu 'e', then clicked Select
3. Clicked Copy and then Pasted into where I wanted to place the accented eHowever, using the Character Map is rather cumbersome. Is there another easier way I can type in an accented 'e' without so many steps?

To reemap everything goto Settings>Language>Add a Language and select whatever form of French you like.

If you don't have too many characters to remember, the easiest & most straightforward is to use ascii code method of holding the ALT key while typing the numeric ascii code. For example, ALT+130 should yield the é symbol. Go to this link for examples. https://theasciicode.com.ar/I often find it easier to simply use google. For example, if I want to use the word 'flambe' with the accent, I just google "flambe". And voila, the first thing that pops up is "flambé" and I just copy and paste. Same with 'voila'. Google yields "voilà".
