I moved to a new address. The internet cable connection is very far from the computer. I can use my wireless modem so I don't have to string a cable wire along the floor.

How do i activate the wi-fi feature on an Aspire X1300, assumig there is a NIC for this?

I'm going to assume you have a system with Windows Vista installed.

You should see a wireless LAN device under Network Adapters in Device Manager.

If this is not the case, there is not a wireless device or it is malfunctioning.

To view and connect to wireless networks

    1. Open Connect to a Network by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button and then clicking Connect to.

    2. In the Show list, click Wireless.

    3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

    4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Set up a connection or network. A list of options will appear that includes manually searching for and connecting to a network, as well as creating a new network connection.

It keeps telling me to activate my wires less network by looking for a switch on my computer. I do t have a switch and this same laptop had wireless when I lived in manhattan and time Warner was my lrovider

Please just edit the message, rather than posting two words to follow up.  It was clear that you meant do not. Smiley Happy

Also, this should probably have been posted as its own thread under Notebooks.

You are not describing specifically what issue you are having.

You've stated that the wireless did work, but isn't working now with a different provider, FiOS.

As you follow the steps outlined above, where is it breaking down?

You need to be specific with what is happening in order for the Community to be able to provide assistance.
