Please help, my laptop is literally cooking itself an515-45.

So, my acer nitro 5, where do i even begin? On a good day this thing will reach temperatures of like 180 degrees, even running games like ROBLOX this computer reaches insane temperatures of over 220+ degrees. I've tried cleaning the dust out, I've tried re-pasting the computer with the arctic silver 5 paste everyone talks about, and still nothing. Please help, I can't afford to buy another PC.

Get a good laptop cooler as this laptop was designed for temps of and up to 220F as your laptop won’t work if it reaches those higher temps, this laptop when it reaches 220F/105C will turn off, that is how this laptop is designed.

Any recommendation? I usually use my laptop on my bed, in lack of an actual desk. I'd need something cheap and something that works with my setup.

On bed!? You'll get  no airflow. In that case my cou reaches tjmax in 10 seconds and shuts down. Better get a cooling pad under 15$

no like, I have it propped up on my knees, so the vents have maximum airflow. I feel like I got a defective model, because I see people with their acer nitro 5's and they get like 80 degrees farenheight. This PC sucks.

OK! If the computer is still overheating, what is the bios version? Did you make a thermal paste collage and clean the fans and air intakes?

and I don't know what you mean by "thermal paste collage". I just applied the paste as the youtube tutorial instructed. And yes, I cleaned the actual fans, I saw people like, taking apart the fans and cleaning it from the inside, but I cant seem to do the same.

Despite the risk, I advise you to update the bios to version 1.08:

How do I do that, and will it fix my issue? or help it?

This bios update has something related to the graphics card. I suggest you update the bios as long as you do the procedure carefully as there is a risk of crashing your computer.

a) disable fast startup in power options and restart windows;

b) charge the battery to 100%;

b) leave the power adapter connected;

c) disable the antivirus;

d) check in the power options, if the screen and hard disk are set to turn off. DISABLE THESE FUNCTIONS AS THE COMPUTER CANNOT TURN OFF;

e) disconnect all peripherals (mouse, external hard drive, printer) from the usbs ports;

f) download the bios file and run the bios update. DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCEDURE.

NOTE: IT IS A RISK UPDATE. I DO NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES.
