Acer Nitro 5, after computer is shut down (when connected to power), when power is removed, fans turn on full speed and never stop until computer runs out of batteries.  If the computer is on battery when shut down, fans turn on immediately.  BIOS updated 10 current version 1.28 and problem remains.  Any suggestions of what to try?

@cameronjones if the computer still plugged in after shutdown, do the fans run or not?

The computer appears for all the world like it's off, if you turn it off when it's plugged in.  The second you remove the power, the fans fire up and run at max speed until the computer runs out of battery.

If the computer is not plugged in when it's turned off, the fans will run immediately once the screen powers off, until it's out of battery.

    Hi @cameronjones,

    Try to do power drain,

    1. Shutdown the unit.
    2. Unplug the cables connected to the unit.
    3. At bottom of the unit there will be a small tiny pin hole with a battery symbol close to it. Take a pin or a paper clip insert into it you feels like pressing a button hold it for 20-30 seconds.

Turn off Cool Boost in NitroSense and see if the fans stop after shutting down, fans do continue after a shut down for a few minutes to cool down the unit. Cool boost is activated automatically but there may be a wrong setting in the registry or a bad driver that make the fans run continuously.
