FN keys Nitro N50-620 Bios version R01-A2

Hi. My Function keys are in media mode and I have found no way to change that setting permanently - I always have to press FN/Esc after every reboot to reverse from Media to FN keys. It's annoying. I tried changing the NumLock settings (just ON/OFF in this BiOs), as is often suggested, but that only disables the numeral lock on my keyboard's numeral pad and changes nothing for the F1-F12 keys. Is there a fix?

Thanks.

Shut machine off. Turn it back on and immediately start tapping the F2 key to enter BIOS menu. Go to Main tab and change function key behavior from media mode to function key mode. Press F10 to save settings and exit.

I checked. No such option. Just the NumLock option which shuts off the keypad and does not alter the F keys. Thanks for the try.

    (1) Try pressing Ctrl+S in the BIOS tabs to see if any hidden options are revealed.
    (2) What BIOS version number do you have?
    (3) Do you have a Control Panel fast startup option? If yes, disable it after you set FN+ESC

That doesn't look like a BIOS version number. It should look something like this and begin with an R01. Also, do you have a Control Panel fast startup option?

It's R01-A2 and I have pretty much what you show in your screen capture.

You seem to have a newer BIOS than R01-A1 listed on the ACER download page https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8943?b=1

What's the build date on your's?

While the BIOS build date for R01-A2 is earlier than the latest BIOS R01-A1 date on the driver page https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8943?b=1 , the  A2 suggests it's actually newer version than A1.

Depending on how annoying this behavior is to you, you could try to install A1 to see if the FN key behavior can be permanently changed.

But if it was my machine, I would NOT try it because the annoyance doesn't seem enough for me to take the inherent risks associated with trying to change the factory BIOS firmware. I might however send a PM to one of the ACER moderators and ask to forward a request to ACER programmers to mod desktop firmware to include an option to change the function key behavior like in most newer gaming laptops.
