Have an Acer EI342CKR Pbmiippx 34" coming and have some questions

I have been on my Acer XG270HU omidpx 27-inch since its release, it's been a great display, but as I age small text in games is getting a little more challenging to read, Plus I have a RTX 3080 so figured it is time. There are no good reviews of this new display the Acer EI342CKR Pbmiippx 34" Gaming display. So I have a list of questions, Tech support seems to be well stumped that a customer with an older product is now asking tech questions on a new display they have coming in. Its like does not compute what should they do.

My big questions are is the Acer EI342CKR Pbmiippx 34" actually bigger than my old Acer XG270HU omidpx 27" in terms of will text be bigger in my games? Or will it be the same size and its the same size as my old monitor just Ultrawide?
With this being an Ultrawide if it is the same size as my current display just wider, will the display have to be closer to my face for the Ultrawide curved experience thus taking care of the smaller text in games?
Next how hard is it to color calibrate/config? Anything to look out for?
Will I be able to run this display at 144hz without issue? Or will I experience ghosting/blacksmear if I run it at its full refresh rate and have to set it down to something like 120hz?
Lastly how much issues am I looking at due to it being an Ultrawide with some of the newer and especially the older games? What all can I do to help make that a better experience?

Hopefully someone here can answer me or knows having dealt with this display, as tech support it seems does not know how to answer my questions or they are spending a very long time looking them up or trying to find someone that knows.

Yeah... want to put down what I think in a customer survey, second time dealing with this same individual in a row. I stated pretty much all of that in the first chat, then got asked a second time like they could not read it/or really understand or they just ignored it and closed the window as I waited.

But I am having zero issues with my display, it is the new display from Acer the Acer EI342CKR Pbmiippx 34" I have coming I purchased from Amazon it is somewhere on a truck from one of amazon's warehouses to my home. I wish I had the new display already. I have Questions that only tech support can answer before it arrives as there are no real reviews of the display online. Is it larger than my old Acer display like in my games will text actually be bigger or is this display the same size as my old one just ultrawide? How hard is it to do the color correction on this new acer display I am getting? Will I have issues running the display at 144hz with blacksmear? Or will it not be an issue? OK, so it takes a little of the geometry you learned in high school to figure it out.

The old one is a 27" 2560 x 1440 display. The new one 34" 3440 x 1440. They are different aspect ratios with the new one being wider in relation to the height than the old one. The ratio for size is then 2560:3440 between the two. A quick factoring of that gives 32:43 and multiplying that by the screen size says for an icon to be the same size on the old monitor as it is on the new one, the old monitor would need to be a 24", not 27". So icons and such will be slightly larger on the new monitor than on the old one, but by much (10% or so).

Ok I was curious on that, have heard two separate things so was not sure. I will take anything I can get have not even bothered looking at displays since 2015 when I got my first Acer 27" Freesync display. Last time I used geometry was in college, during my professional life maya sort of took care of anything like that for me. Do you know anything about my other questions?

Placement is going to be determined by your space and I would expect it'll be close to the same distance away unless there's no room inside a hutch or something. I find that the distance is best at the back of my desk so I don't have to get into the bifocal area of my glasses.

I have never done any color calibration with any of my monitors, but I'm not doing any work where it would make a difference.

You should be able to run at 144Hz or 120Hz, or for that matter 60Hz, without any issue. Smear and such are really more dependent on your usage, if you are in a static environment, such as a rendering program, it isn't an issue. If you are playing games you will want to pay more attention. I don't play enough to help more there...

I play more games these days on my pc than anything else. Would like to keep the refresh rate higher at 120-144hz is not much of a difference between the two plus the reduction of eye strain is a plus. My old Acer 27" 1440p freesync display has been set to 144hz since I got it back in 2015. Being retired I do a lot of gaming finally. No bifocals yet just the whole reading small text on a screen while gaming or a dim lit phone reading text is a challenge and painting miniatures has become more of a challenge, have a set of glasses without astigmatism just for painting things up close to my face. I honestly hope I never have to open Maya/Max/Photoshop/CrazyBump/Zbrush or a game engine again...

I got my first pair of glasses when I was four and focus without them at something like three inches from my eyes.

At one point I ad special lenses for computer work, that shifted the main portion of the lens to focus at arms length and they worked really well for looking at computer monitors, but I haven't been flush enough to go the whole two pairs things since... I'm going to be swapping my old desktop out for a new one this season and will definitely look into higher refresh rates with a better GPU.
