Have an old 7741 and was wondering what was the maximum specc'ed configuration for this series and their relevant part numbers?
From the research I did, I saw conflicting information, such as 8Gb max ram, yet another series of sites would reference 16Gb.
Just need a definitive answer.
I know there were different 'flavours' of 7741 series (7741Z for example) for other markets outside of Canada, so wondering if that is where the discrepancies are coming from.

The max spec from Acer for your 7741 and the 7741G is as follows:

    • MAINBOARD JE70CP AS7741G DIS HM55 PARK_XT LF W/RTC BATTERY W/O CPU&MEMORY - Acer part #: MB.PT401.001
    • CPU - Acers max spec that they fitted is the Intel® Core i5-540M (Acer part #: KC.54001.DMP) btw, this CPU can be upgraded to the higher Core i7-640M also which will give you 13-15% performance increase over the i5-540M. or and if you have the lower I3-330M it will increase performance from 40% to 45% fitting an i7-640M.
    • The Aspire 7741 has graphics provided by the CPU that has an integrated GPU of the Intel HD (Westmere) specs and the Aspire 7741G has a dedicated AMD PARK_XT or the AMD MADISON_PRO graphics.
    • The motherboard chipset is the - Mobile Intel HM55 Express Chipset
    • Memory - is at maximum size of - 8 GB for the 64bit OS (with two 4 GB SODIMM's) at max supported DDR3-1333Mhz into its 2x slots but, do a Crucial System Scanner as the newer memory could upgrade the memory to a higher capacity like in one of my older laptops that I've got which is the Aspire V3-571G that Acer quotes as a max of 8GB (into its 2x slots) but the Crucial scanner quotes a max of 16GB (2x 8GB at DDR3-1600Mhz) which works 100%.
    • HDD is at a 2.5" SATA-2 but you can operate this laptop with a 2.5" SATA-3 SSD which will give you superior performance to the SATA-2 spinner HDD's.
    • The top spec wireless card is the - WIRELESS LAN BOARD QMI ATHEROS HB97 2X2 BGN (HM) EM309-AR - Acer part #: NI.23600.074

The original specs for 7741G max RAM is two 4GB DDR3L sodimms --- any garden variety 1600MHz sodimms should be fine. Max 2.5" HDD or SSD 2TB without issues. Max spec CPU would be i5-540M part no KC.54001.DMP. It may also be compatible with an i7-640m with the same G1 pin configuration but not 100% guaranteed
