Hi Guys,

I bought my Acer V Nitro 15 Black Edition in the Summer of 2016 and i was happy with the laptop up until 2 years ago when it slowed down a lot. I recently read up articles and many forums that you can always upgrade a laptop with a new SSD and increase RAM for better performance and refresh your laptop experience. I plan on buying myself a new laptop next year any way which i need for work and gaming but i would like to keep this laptop as an extra around the house for my wife or as a regular use system. I have seen many topics on this community but im not very tech savvy so i dont understand some of the terms. My questions about the laptop is can i install any mainstream SSD to the laptop? i have provided two options below, if you could have a look and let me know if these would work or not.

Im looking to either install a 1TB NVME SSD as in the below link.

https://www.amazon.ae/Kingston-Internal-Security-SA2000M8-1000G/dp/B07VXC9QMH/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=kingston+ssd&qid=1638881179&sr=8-3

OR

Im looking to replace the current Toshiba 1TB HDD for the below

https://www.amazon.ae/CRUCIAL-CT1000BX500SSD1-2-5-inch-Serial-Internal/dp/B07YD579WM/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=crucial+ssd+1tb&qid=1638881793&sr=8-2

Which of the two options is better?
Does this laptop have a PCIe slot for the NVME SSD and will it take a 1TB SSD?
If not then can i install any 2.5inch SATA SSD and replace the current HDD? Perhaps get an external case and use the HDD as an a new 1TB external Storage.

Secondly, my laptop came with 16GB of ram installed. Is that enough? i have the option of upgrading the ram to 32GB but is it worth it? If yes then can i install any of the below RAM?

https://www.amazon.ae/TEAMGROUP-T-Force-Zeus-3200MHz-PC4-25600/dp/B08W224DXL/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2S2JDV5AXSGYM&keywords=32gb+ddr4+3200+laptop+ram&qid=1638882257&sprefix=32gb+,aps,404&sr=8-2&th=1

OR

https://www.amazon.ae/Timetec-PC4-25600-Unbuffered-Compatible-Notebook/dp/B098TYN671/ref=sr_1_6?crid=2S2JDV5AXSGYM&keywords=32gb+ddr4+3200+laptop+ram&qid=1638882353&sprefix=32gb+,aps,404&sr=8-6

Third, is the battery of my laptop replaceable? Could anyone help me with the model number of the battery if it is?

Last, is the laptop compatible with the External GPUs? If it is i might not buy a new laptop and just work with this one.

Sorry for the bombardment of questions! Thank you in advance!!

Q1 ) Your lappy should have a single NVME slot on the bottom of it :)https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/24605216 ) although it doesnt look to be an easy disassemble ( https://www.myfixguide.com/manual/acer-aspire-v15-nitro-vn7-592g-disassembly/)

It should take the 1TB NVME , as any from the same gen (PCI3) should work . NVME would be quicker and use less power, HDD / Normal SSD may be much cheaper . I think the laptop accepts both NVME and m2 SATA drives looking at the service guide

Q2) 16GB is enough ;)! Unless you are running virtual machines, windows will always expand to "fill" the available ram, but over 16GB oyou dont really see any benifits at the moment apart from under certain conditions (scientific number crunching, virtual machines, running 1.4 billion tabs in your browser)

Q3) Ish, so any lappy battery can be replaced you just need to remove everything! Laptop battery spec is  BTY PACK LI+ LG 3C 4.465AH LG 60WH and the internal part number you could use to find a replacement is KT.0030G.001

Q4) Maybe ... with a caveat that there was quite a thread about getting thunderbolt to work ( https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/444512/need-thunderbolt-3-nvm-of-at-least-14-for-aspire-vn7-792g/p2 ) If your thunderbolt is showing than any eGPU over thunderbolt 3 should work!

Saying this, I cant actully see thunderbolt 3 listed in the spec sheet for the laptop, maybe im looking at the wrong one :s? I would deffo check in device manager to see if there is a TB controller ( Service manual doesnt mention it at all , here does ( https://community.acer.com/en/kb/articles/8922-usb-c-specifications-for-acer-aspire-vn7-592g-black-edition  ) )

Dont need to say sorry for the Q's, thats the point o the forums :D !

Thanks a bunch! Appreciate the help. So the NVME ssd i put a link down for should work right? The part where you said PCI3 threw me off. I’m not sure if the SSD i linked is above, same or below that.
