I added a Samsung 870 500GB sata SSD. Windows recognizes it fine. But I want to leave Windows as is run from the NVMe and & run Linux Mint from the sata SSD.
The Linux Mint 20.2 installer (via USB stick) boots up but does not see the drive at all so I can't install it to the sata SSD. Any dual booters out there who've run into this?

    SOLVED: Use Mint 20.2 Edge to install so it will recognize an SATA SSD, but Wifi adapter won't work after install.  Then use Ethernet or compatible USB WiFi adapter to let it update all it wants and a few reboots after which it should recognize the Wifi adapter and begin working.

    Amazingly, after receiving multiple updates on Mint Edge the past 24 hours via a Panda USB WiFi adapter, this evening the computer recognized the WiFi adapter and worked perfectly. I know Newegg sold a boatload of those laptops Black Friday so there may have been someone on the case to get it done.  BIOS info;
    11th gen core i7-1165G7 2.8GHz
    InsydeH20 setup utility Rev. 5.0
    System BIOS v1.16
    Intel GOP Driver 17.0.1044
    NVMe - HFM512GDJTN1-82A0A
    Samsung 870EV0 500GB
    20480 RAM

    No, I'm not registered in the Mint forums but I've been using Mint for quite a few years.

    F2 to enter the BIOS menu on startup. Please post a phone photo of the BIOS Information tab if possible.

    Thanks, but I found out that regular Cinnamon Mint 20.2 isn't up to date enough to recognize the hardware. Mint EDGE 20.2 did recognize the drive and installed but even after the updates it still won't recognize the WiFi adapter. There's some 3rd party voodoo I could do but I have a Panda USB WiFi working just fine. I might do it or the ndiswrapper thing. Ok at this point.

    Still would like to see phone photo of your BIOS Information tab if possible. Did you register for the Mint forums? I recall some workarounds to the unrecognized HDD1 or sdb issue.

    Correction. I might have been registered on Mint forum a year or so ago.
