I've been told I need to update my video driver. Model Aspire A515-54

What I have is version 26.20.100.6911 from 5/28/2019.

The driver download page shows a VGA UMA driver with the same version number 26.20.100.6911 but dated 2021/10/20. Windows update driver says I am up to date. I downloaded the file from the page, and tried to install it, but WIndows still shows the same version from 2019. Is there really an updated driver in that download? And if so, how do I download it?

The latest Intel Win10 video driver for your proprietary ACER mainboard is 26.20.100.6911 dated Jan 21, 2020. If you're video seems to be functioning properly, whoever told you that you needed an update is incorrect.

Go to Intel's website and download the latest graphics driver.

With DCH driver, you are not longer locked into the OEM graphics driver.

The best thing for all Intel drivers and for you to be up to date on all is to download the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant as that will keep you notified of all the new updates for your integrated UHD Graphics 620. So download that software and run a scan of all your system tehn update the appropriate out of date Intel drivers, its a very simple process.

I believe both versions with same version number but different date is basically the same thing. Different sources may use different dates for the same version.

If you're video seems to be functioning properly, leave well enough alone.

Your laptop has i7-10510U CPU, which means that the latest Intel graphics driver is:

If you're video seems to be functioning properly, don't try to fix it with an update.

    Complete BS.

You are essentially telling the OP to use outdated and unpatched driver.

We all know that Acer is extremely lazy to post driver updates on their support website. It means that the absence of the oem driver updates doesn't mean that there aren't any recent and more security patched drivers available.

It just mean that Acer is lazy.

6911 is not even the latest in the v26 graphics drivers.
