Aspire V Nitro VN7-591G
My SSD M.2 disk broke, so I bought a new one and also an Acer recovery stick. The new disk is slightly larger than the original one.
During precheck, I get the NAPP_NAPPHDD error message "Deploy fail, error message = This disk type of PC is not '   ' "
What does it really say ??
At my first attempt a had picked out the 2,5" HDD, where a had my personal data, but then I got the same error also with the disk in place.

Is the new drive visible in BIOS?

Turn on secure boot and change boot mode to UEFI in BIOS and try again

It already says that boot mode is UEFI and secure boot is enabled.

Very strange, but now I also seem to have a power issue. It does for some reason not even power up. Never experienced that before. Can hear a ticking sound for a while after pressing the power switch, but hard to detect where exactly it comes from. Toke out the new SSD M.2 card not to damage it. The sound is still there.

There is a chance your MB is about to die, maybe you have shorten it while replacing the drive? Open up the bottom cover and look for visible electrical damage. If you coud`t find any try battery reset.

So let me get this straight Sredna, you replaced your M.2 boot drive with a new one and you recovered everything and did an “Acer recovery stick”? where did you buy this from or onwhat other laptop/computer did you do the recovery stick on? As that could be the problem that you are having, as the Acer recovery stick might not be compatible with your system. Your OEM VN7-591G boot drive is a GUID Partition Table (GPT) and has to be formatted that way, otherwise the recovery won’t work, while your 2.5” backup drive (slave) is formatted in Master Boot Record (MBR). The drive specs of your VN7-591G are 1x 2.5” SATA-3 at 6GB/sec and 1x M.2 SATA-3 6Gb/sec B&M end key type. Putting any other M.2 types of drives like the M end key type NVMe drives will not work, the recommended M.2 drives for your laptop are either 128GB or the 256GB of the following models that are fitted by Acer:

    • M.2 128GB - KINGSTON RBU-SNS8100S3 or the TOSHIBA THNSNJ128G8NU or M.2 256GB - KINGSTON RBU-SNS8100S3 or TOSHIBA THNSNJ256G8NU

Note: the hard drive capacities in windows are determined by their format of either Master Boot Record (MBR) format that limits the drive to 2TB or the GUID Partition Table (GPT) that can run drives above 2TB.

@batmalin Have not seen any burn marks. If "battery reset" is disconnecting/connecting the battery pack, then I've done that.
Can see on a label that the computer was manufactured 2014. Did not think it was quite that old actually, but it might me true. It has been good though, so a bit sad if it's about to die. That was not really the plan.

@StevenGen I never managed to recover. I bought this B&M Samsung card. I also bought a recovery stick from Acer.

    Samsung 860 Evo 500GB Serial ATA-600 M2 2280

Are you saying that I'm supposed to format the drive myself? Obviously I did not, as I though the recovery would have taken care of that.
Can you explain how to perform a correct format of the drive. Never heard of GPT or MBR.

Seeing that your old SSD M.2 was burned and you can’t recover the old OS and/or data from it and/or do a clone or use the Samsung Data Migration? If you want your old valuable data (its up to your?) I suggest that you get an expert “Data Recovery Tech” to recover your valuable data for you, as these people can recover even up to 100% of the data.

The only other option for you now is to “Create Windows 10 installation media” on an 8GB USB drive and follow this guide “How to install Windows 10 from USB with UEFI support” which is the appropriate format that your Aspire VN7-591G boot M.2 should be at. So follow those guides for the proper installation of Win-10 with a “Clean Install” onto your new Samsung 860 SATA-3 M.2 as it’s a very simple install and will work 100% for you. The "Activation" should be automatic if your Aspire VN7-591G was activated with a Digital Licence linked to a Microsoft Account, if not then you should have a Win-10 key for this laptop that you could also activate Win-10 with, see this guide "Activate Windows" as that will explain all activation procedures for you. Good luck and hope this helps you out. Also and after the installation make sure that your BIOS is up to date to the last version 1.17 "Updates Intel microcode revision to fix the Spectre security vulnerabilities".

Also I suggest this very seriously is that you always do a periodic backup of your system with Macrium Reflect 8 Free as this software has a “System Recovery” that has a menu option to your PC boot menu that you can boot into if you want to restore your system. I’ve used Macrium Reflect for years and do backups either every day (if valuable data is added) or every week or month as this  gives you an exact copy of your boot C:/ drive and you can always restore it when situations like you have experienced with your boot drive happen.
