XB253QGP - USB - switching display and sleep

I have the XB253QGP, which has a 1 upstream USB3.0 port and 4 downstream ports.

I have the monitor connected via:
 - HDMI to a primary PC and the USB Connected to it...
 - Display Port to a laptop with no USB

When I switch between the two I have to unplug a USB Hub and connect it either to the Laptop or the USB port on the monitor...

On switching back to the Primary PC, the usb on the monitor isn't detected and I am not sure why... the only solution appears to be to reboot the PC...

Any suggestions?

You should have to physically disconnect the hub from one computer and plug it into the second computer each time you do the transition. USB hubs and USB devices in general really aren't designed to switch smoothly from system to system live. What you might want to look into is a KVM switch that switches both video and USB then use one port on the monitor for both, with shared keyboard and mouse between the two systems.

Yes agreed unplugging should do it… it didn’t seem to…
