Acer Aspire V5-571G power issue

Hello and good day to everyone!

I'd like to post a problem that's really hard to explain. Maybe someone can help out.

Here's the thing. I have Acer Aspire V5-571G laptop. It was given to me by my aunt AS IS. At first, I was having trouble powering it up. I found out the AC adapter isn't working anymore. It tried another AC adapter. I was able to boot it up and upgraded to Windows 10 as soon as possible (I upgraded by executing "setup.exe" from an ISO I downloaded from the net.)

Here's another, the battery is in 0%. I have this conclusion that the battery isn't working anymore. Please do note that the laptop is plugged in and the battery was intact. I shutdown the laptop, removed the battery, plugged in the AC adapter, and it won't power on. I tried reversing what I did by plugging it the battery again and it works fine. But the problem is the laptop is running slow, although I installed additional RAM to it.

The problem is: The laptop works when it is plugged in WITH the DEFECTIVE battery on. But doesn't work if it's plugged in through AC adapter only.

Anyone experiencing the same problem as mine? Suggestions are highly appreciated. Thanks and stay safe, everyone!

The battery has an issue. Brand new replacement battery packs  are only about $25-30usd for this model so I suggest you try one. Google search the keywords V5-571G battery for vendors who ship to your location.

Was thinking about getting a new battery, tho. So, I could get a good use for this laptop. Thank you so much!

Many mainboards won't turn on plugged in without a battery pack ballast also plugged in. Furthermore, if the battery has a shorted cell, the power supply may not be able to supply the voltage and power needed by the mainboard circuits to run at their full speed potential. Brand new replacement battery packs  are only about $25-30usd for this model so I suggest you try one. Google search the keywords V5-571G battery for vendors who ship to your location.

    Hi @lumosrune11,

Are you getting any light indication when charger is connected.

I opened the laptop many times, cleaned everything inside, replaced thermal paste on CPU and GPU, and tried to plug it in without the battery. 1/20 times of trying to power it on without the battery, it powered on. I also checked the power cable that is directed to the motherboard for any exposed or loosen wires. But there's none. Also, I'm using an AC adapter that I don't know the voltage output of it, but it really works when the battery is intact.

For this problem, I can't upgrade the BIOS because it's always saying that it can't be upgraded using ONLY the battery.

The battery indicator is constantly blinking orange/red. I tried to leave it for 3 days straight powered on and the laptop worked fine. Though, it's slower than I thought, since I don't know if it really supports Windows 10 Pro..
