So guys, basically is this... My headset microphone is not working on my acer notebook. I've tried many solutions that I found in this forum, but none worked.

Already edited the config file for codecs, check the kernel correct codec for my audio jack, tried to check alsamixer volume and alsamixer capture panel. Also hdajackrest and check pavucontrol levels.

The thing is, when I plug the headset on the jack, it asks me if it's a headset or a headphone, so I choose headset. then, I can see it on my system and in pavucontrol, but the volume meter keeps in zero. Also, I can't see this microphone on google chrome or other applications.

Can you please help me with this problem? Thank you!

Try this. Open terminal. Enter 'killall pulseaudio'. Then try pavucontrol again.

    Try windows x
Go to device manager - Go to sound video and game controllers.  Expand it
Uninstall the sound driver from device manager.  Please uninstall all the items below the sound video and game controllers.
Restart the computer.  It should work fine..

If it is still not working
Uninstall the sound driver from device manager
    Dont restart the computer.
    Go to support.acer.com
    chose your country
type snid or chose your model
    go to drivers
    Install the sound driver

Are you trying to connect it for the first time on this computer.    Was it working earlier on this computer.    If not then you might have to purchase a adapter.   Some old models of headset come with two wires one for microphone and the other for listening to music but there will be only one port on the laptop.    Some laptop will be having two ports one for microphone and the other for listening to music but the headset will be having only one wire.   In both the cases you might have to purchase a adapter or splitter adapter.

New models are equipped with only one port but again it depends on the headset you are trying to use.    We need to first check whether the headset is coming with one wire or two wires  ( microphone and for listening to music )

Try the same headset with a different computer and check..     Try a different headphone with microphone on this computer and check to isolate the issue.

Please go through on the details given below for better understanding..
