Hey, I bought an Intel Core i7-7700k but my BIOS does not support 7th generation cpu. (Current bios  R01-A4)
Chipset - Intel Skylake
Southbridge - Intel B150
I then decided to buy a newer version of the motherboard hoping to get chipset that supports 7th gen.

This is the motherboard i bought. Can you confirm that it supports i7-7700k?

The vendor says that it does. If so it will have one of the R02 BIOS versions.

Your Predator G3-710 came OEM with this Acer mainboard "SOPHIAB MB_B150_USB3.0_WIN10_HDMI_DP" - Acer part #: DB.B1411.001 that supports CPU type of the following Intel Kabylake-S processors with the system chipset Intel Skylake B150:
    • Intel Core i7 7700K 4.2G 8M 2400 Quad Core 95W
    • Intel Core i5 7600K 3.8G 8M 2400 Quad Core 95W
So, check your initial OEM motherboard that came with the G3-710 that you have and check the above, if the Acer ref # matches? As the OEM G3-710 supports i7-7700K CPU and the last BIOS the version R02-B2 "Update KBL/SKL Microcode" dated 2018/11/13.

Btw and as a reference, this is the OEM Acer part #: DB.B1411.001 G3-710 motherboard that the G3-710 came with and you should have, see hereACER DB.B1411.001 PREDATOR G3-710 LGA1151 MOTHERBOARD MIB15L as these mobos on AliExpress are many times wrongly listed and you are taking a big gamble unless it states the exact Acer part number and even then they could be wrong or send you the wrong mobo, take it from me as I've had very bad experiences with this outlet.

    Predator G3-710 OEM Acer mainboard "SOPHIAB MB_B150_USB3.0_WIN10_HDMI_DP" - Acer part #: DB.B1411.001

Steven, the earlier G3-710 units that came with the R01 BIOS don't support the refresh chips. The newer ones had the R02 BIOS and do support those chips. You can't flash the R02 BIOS to an R01 motherboard...

Yes I know billsey, that is why I'm giving him the appropriate info on the G3-710 mobo that supports the i7-7700K and the last BIOS version R02-B2 so that he knows the exact Acer part number and mobo to buy and not get the wrong one.
