Aspire A315-21-47B4 How do I get my OEM Key from a dead drive?

I am fixing my brother's Aspire A315-21-47B4 and I can not get into the drive to retrieve the OEM Key.  The drive is totally dead, the computer does not detect the boot drive, even when I changed boot to USB it still doesn't do anything.  I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but here I am.

What do I need to do now?  The laptop is out of warranty and I'm lost on the site as to where I can find this information or if I even can get it.

Any possible solutions would be appreciated.

The A315-21 models came with Windows 10, so have a UEFI boot environment. With UEFI the key is stored in the BIOS, not on the system drive as was the case back in the Windows 7 days... Just install the OS on the new drive, connect to the internet and then validate online. You might have to be logged in with a Windows account.

Users can retrieve it by issuing a command from the command prompt.
    1. Press Windows key + X.
    2. Click Command Prompt (Admin)
    3. At the command prompt, type: wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey. This will reveal the product key. Volume License Product Key Activation.
