I have an acer nitro an515-55. Everytime after gaming for an hour, i'll here a 'TAK' sound coming from the bottom right side of the laptop. It appears to be around where the speaker is, but the thing is I have the speaker disabled since i use external speakers. Before and after disabling the speakers, the sound persists. The sound goes on for a few minutes after gaming and stops. There is no sound on normal usage. Only for a few minutes after shutting down a game that's been running for about an hour.

I have a hdd and ssd. The game is on my ssd and my hdd only contain unimportant entertainment data. So I can't fathom why it would come from the hdd. I ran diagnostic and checked smart, but the drive seems to be healthy [though i know hdds can just fail sometimes]. I have no idea what the sounds about, is it the plastic casing of the laptop cooling down from the heat? it runs at about 65-70C when gaming and i use a cooling pad.

Say if the hdd is the cause and its failing [already backed up data], will a hdd failing hurt the laptop in any way? can I keep using it till it fails by itself? it only contains unimportant data for easy access. But still why would it be the hdd and only after gaming when the game isn't even on it...

Thank you for an thoughts on this problems...

PS: if i shut down the laptop right after gaming, the sound still persists for that few minutes too.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I updated my sound driver. I also changed my hdd to an ssd thinking the sound may be coming for there, its not. If its not the fans, speakers or ssds, no idea where else it could be originating. I haven't got any errors or drops in performance so i have no idea what causes the sound.

It sounds like when you tap on the plastic chassis. I wanted to run a bios diagnostic tool but it looks like this laptop doesn't have that, my previous dell laptop had it so i assumed all laptops have those hardware diagnostic tools. If my motherboard is failing somehow i should notice some drop in performance, blue screen, error pop up messages or screen lines, something. no idea what this is about.

could the sound be caused by changing c-states, or relays?
